Medical Expense Coverage
Mexpro's trip protection plans include emergency medical coverage as described below.
Emergency Medical & Dental Expenses
You are covered for unexpected medical and dental expenses incurred due to medical treatment required for sickness or accidental injury during your trip.
Hospital to Hospital Emergency Evacuation
If you are hospitalized due to an unexpected medical emergency, injury, or accident, and the hospital does not have the ability to properly treat you, and it is medically warranted, emergency evacuation coverage will transport you to the nearest suitable hospital.
This must be recommended by your physician and approved by our 'On Call' assistance provider. Your medical evacuation will be arranged by 'On Call' with no out of pocket expenses, up to your maximum policy benefit.
*Emergency ground or air transportation to the initial hospital, i.e., from the scene of an accident, is not covered under this plan. This plan only covers ground ambulance transportation between hospitals as part of an approved medical evacuation.
If traveling alone and the doctor certifies you will be hospitalized for more than seven days, the plan provides transportation for one person to join you by your bedside if repatriation is not imminent.
Repatriation of Remains
In the event of your death, while on your trip, your body will be returned to your home residence in the U.S. This includes the cost of embalming, cremation, casket, and transportation up to the limit on your policy.
Additional Coverage Provided on Our Elite Plan Only
Non-medical Emergency Transport
If you purchased our Elite plan, you are covered up to the benefit maximum for transportation expenses related to a natural disaster or political unrest.
Optional Rental Car Damage Coverage
This benefit only covers physical damage to your rental vehicle. It DOES NOT satisfy Mexico's requirement for Mexican Liability insurance coverage. Additionally, Mexpro can only provide rental car coverage for vehicles rented in the United States and driven into Mexico.
If renting a vehicle in Mexico, you will need to purchase car insurance from the rental company. If renting in another country, you may not be required to purchase car insurance, but can utilize this option to cover the vehicle for physical damage.
